A Fix

We know we are a broken people. There are very few religions or ideologies in the world that do not acknowledge this fact. The disagreement arises in how we believe it should be solved.

Some say it doesn't matter.

Some say try harder.

Some say seek ______ (fill in the blank with the higher force of your choice).

Too often, Christianity becomes a mixture of all of these beliefs. Our faith is not a creed that speaks of the importance of good behavior. In that case, Christianity would just be like another self-help book, inspiring, but not sustainable, and you probably won't even finish it anyway.

A friend recently shared a quote on Facebook from Mark Driscoll that struck me: "The old you needs to die, not get self-improved. You can change the things you do; only Jesus can change who you are."

This is the beauty of our faith and what separates it from other beliefs. This is the beauty of our God.

He says there is a better option than brokenness.

He says no amount of trying will qualify you for this better option.

He says no amount of searching would lead us to find Him.

So He came and found us. Let the healing begin.
